Ideas for a home :-)

Welcome the morning Eastern light
Morning light it brings a great joy and alertness to the mind energizing the space. It is fresh  it inspires and activates the morning life, you can hear the birds and the buzz of the morning activity. It also brings the tender heat, light deep into the room spaces since the angle is acute striking your eye quite nicely. A view of the sun rise is a must for the house you are planning to build.
Have ample openings towards the east (if you have the access to view sun rise). Have a terrace space, open enough for you to come out into open and enjoy the morning Sun.

Touch the Green
Trees and plants brings wildlife close to you which springs surprises. Its takes only one nice giant tree to attract a dozen variety of birds and smaller animals like squirrels, snakes or rodents! Watching these birds engaged in life is a great way of connection with the larger idea of life. To feel the "whole" and get humbled.
Create a bay/boxed windows as near to the tree branches! (actually speaking, it is ideal to make tree your home!) but!. Think of various ways of increasing the bio diversity. Keeping open spaces helps in growing more green as you get access to sunlight. Green also brings visual, aural delight into spaces. Grow gardens on your terraces.

Grow your own vegetables
We miss to see the essentials of life like growth, flowering etc living in urban sprawls. Its nice if you can make some place to grow vegetables to see the life coming to action. Children love it! Its possible to make various kinds of places to make vegetables grow. They can be grown in pots, niches, corners, climbers may take metal grills etc. You can find them on web! Its always a delight to eat what you grow!

Yoga and space around
If you like doing yoga, then create a free open terrace space to do it. Make sure the terrace gets ample morning light. Its great when your body movements coordinate with the stationary space and makes you one with light and air. Its ok! if its not private enough!...Yoga is a delight to watch too.

Can i minimize objects?
I know, life is all about accumulating objects :-)...we have valid reasons to buy them and keep dumping many without use!. Many stick around due to sentimental reasons, some look like too pricy to dispose, but most of them feel that they could be utilized 'later'! Though we can give a great level of detail helping the objects to organize, it simply overrides the organization! Chaos multiplies if you have kids at home, not anything new! Clothes, Display objects, Utensils and appliances, furniture, toys, tools, electronic, food pumps into your home everyday like never imagined! Since they are not part of of our daily natural activities, they easily accumulate occupying the space and making the house cluttered. We have been finding 'ways' to accommodate, organize and make them accessible and more meaningful but most often we have failed. So the wiser way is to minimize them! Throw them out! Have a yard sale and clean up your house! Sell them on craiglist!

Do not stand and cook, you will hurt your knees!
One of the biggest blunders of today's Kitchen design was to blindly copying it from the west! In west they do not spend time cooking for a long time unlike here. If you force yourself to stand and cook for a long time, you are sure to get knee fissures or Arthritis  after few years. My mother and her age friends are suffering from this now from last few years.
Make a sit able cooking place and save your legs! Design "Katte" low benches in Kitchen for comfortable sitting.

Keep away the goddamn electronics (get time off from the tool world! )
If you are the kinds working from home, think about a separate floor to work or ideally rent a house nearby to work so that you do not mix up office abstract work and homes reality! Fix your electronics only this place of work and clean up its presence else where.

Can you be sustainable as much?
Can i create my own electricity, water, harvest rain, increase biodiversity, use very little materials? I think so! Its possible! I am sure people have already done it. Just copy!

SAY NO to "attached bathroom/WC"!
It stinks! You will hear the leaking water droplets while you sleep! Wet area in your bedroom! Clothes will rain from nowhere! You will have unwanted guests!
I never liked the idea of attached bathroom! Its like a hotel feeling! Sleep, wash, bathe, dress and get out! At home, a place to sleep is more than a narrow hotel bedroom! Its a place to read, to play, to study, to gather sometimes, etc! So avoid attached bathrooms!

I rather pay a local great craftsman than a costly, pumped up, resource killer materials!
Why pay more for a material, which is quarried in some far off land, transported by trucks, creates a market and a demand, does not fit your climate or culture! and the local builders do not know how to finish it!. I prefer to pay a local expert craftsmen who prefers to use a locally available material and less of it if possible.

Paint your walls white or light
It makes your spaces bright and spacious! Allow/enable and provide space for the culture later to leave its marks rather than pasting unrelated visual elements confusing the lifestyle.

Make rooms more interesting
As talked earlier, rooms are more than an enclosure of 4 walls and a big bulky bed taking 70% of the space for no great reason! Make rooms as large and puncture newer spaces like a niche, ante space, attic space or reading closures to break the boredom of the 4 walls!.
A balcony or a open space adjoining the room is a must to break the monotony of closed enclosure. A room space should accommodate children play, reading, sleeping, no noise, green view, flexible to convert the room into an art gallery!

Make a place where you make things
As studio space to make things in hands is completely missing in our new homes as we don't want to make things from our hands! Thinking from hand is a great way to engage with kids and learn. Most of the hand work happens in Kitchen and nowhere else. Hand work should be a part of daily life to encourage active living. Convert your garage into a studio space where you can paint, make objects, design or nurture your creative interests like tailoring etc!

Live music is a blessing!
If you have family person learning music and practicing music at home nothing like it! Live music is a great connect. Else i prefer to listen to music in a public place with people of similar interest. Kitchen, studio and dining or living areas are nice places to set up a music system.

Turn off your lights early or keep it low
We seem to have grown up using a lot of artificial lights! We(City dwellers) have missed seeing a nice deep darkens of the evening. I like to keep the lights as low as possible, just enough to do my chores.
